Jackie Holmstrom and Heather Jo Flores lived a few doors down from each other in Eugene, Oregon, in the mid-1990’s, when Food Not Lawns was among dozens of community projects started and maintained by local artists and activists in the Whiteaker neighborhood. When Heather got the contract from Chelsea Green to publish Food Not Lawns, Jackie was the first person she called.
Since then, Jackie has continued to work as an artist and as a gardener, and runs her own edible landscaping business in Portland, Oregon.
